Breaking Through In A Crowded Online Learning Space
Creating an executive-level learning experience in a crowded online learning space
Challenge:
When the University of Miami Herbert School of Business chose to launch a fully online executive MSA program, the team knew two key things:
The entire learning experience, not just the content, had to be compelling, engaging, and interactive to blend seamlessly into the lives of busy working professionals and differentiate the program in a crowded online education marketplace.
They wanted to manage the program in house. The University of Miami has a strong and trusted brand. It was important for them to own the program, ensuring learners received an education and experience aligned with the Miami brand.
The Miami team selected Honor as its learning platform of choice for three key reasons:
Beautiful, human-centric design: Honor’s compelling UI gave back to the University of Miami’s brand as an innovator and differentiated the program in a crowded executive education market.
Human connection: The Miami team wanted learners to get all the benefits of peer-to-peer engagement in an online, asynchronous environment.
Instructor empowerment: Previously, instructors relied on their online program manager for content development, and had to email the manager for all content changes. With Honor, instructors can easily infuse their unique voice and perspective, and add content at any time — critical for rapidly changing topics like AI.
While the Miami team wanted to empower instructors and maintain full ownership of program content, they needed some initial support with instructional design. The team worked with Honor’s instructional design team to collaboratively build the curriculum and get the program up and running on schedule.
