Seamlessly Launching an LMS to 105 HBCUs

Building and engaging a new community

Challenge:

Propel Center, an innovation hub for HBCUs, saw a unique opportunity to support HBCU students with learning and credentialing opportunities in cutting-edge fields like AI, Machine Learning, and Cybersecurity, alongside career readiness and DEI courses.

Because the courses were fully asynchronous and targeted toward busy college students who already had a full course load, the team knew the learning experience had to be compelling, engaging, and convenient to attract and retain learners.

The Propel team selected Honor as its learning platform of choice for three key reasons:

  1. Modern, engaging design: Honor’s mobile-first, easy-to-use UI was designed with the modern learner in mind, appealing to Propel Center’s primarily Gen Z audience.

  2. Human connection: The platform connects fully asynchronous, geographically distributed learners, building community and empowering students to learn from one another.

  3. Impactful analytics: As a new program, measuring success and learner engagement was critical to driving program growth. The Propel Center team leveraged Honor’s suite of analytics to understand what topics and content resonated with students, uncover areas of opportunity, and identify ways to make the program more impactful.
